Associação entre vitiligo e doenças auto-imunes: prevalência no Serviço de Dermatologia do Hospital Universitário Evangélico de Curitiba

Abstract

Background and objective: Analyze the prevalence of autoimmune diseases (AID) in vitiligo´s bearers assisted by the Department of Dermatology of Hospital Universitário Evangélico de Curitiba. Material and methods: A retrospective study has
been realized in which 93 handbooks of patients with the diagnosis of vitiligo were analyzed. By the obtained data,
a protocol that contained the patient’s personal data, history of AID associated and the age of this diagnosis,
laboratory tests (TSH, T4 free, FAN and fast glicemy), family history of vitiligo and of autoimmune diseases, was filled. The results were statistically analyzed by frequency study.
Results: 65,59% of the patients were women and the age prevalence of all patients were 23,1± 18,05. 7,52% had family history of vitiligo. 12,90% of the individuals had some autoimmune pathology. The most prevalent autoimmune disease was Hashimoto thyreoiditis (n=5), followed by systemic eritematous lupus (n=3). Among the patients, 3 had family history of autoimmune
disease. Connecting the age of the appearance of vitili go with the age of the diagnosis of the auto-immune disease,
in 25% of the cases AID preceded the vitiligo; in 8,33% it was simultaneous; in 50% was posterior and in 2 cases there was no available data.
Conclusion: Due to the little sample of patients with autoimmune disease, we recommend that a prospective
study, with laboratory tests collected in a systematic form, should be performed in order to obtain an earlier diagnosis
and the valuation of the real association between vitiligo and these pathologies.
